Human resource leaders in developed economies are experiencing a major talent gap that is leading to a talent war for the most sought after profiles. Competing for talent is what HR departments do for a living, but the major trends that are affecting the commercial world are now starting to affect the HR world. The same way the consumer has become informed, connected, and overall more powerful, talented profiles are more difficult to attract and to retain than ever before. According to a McKinsey and company study, in advanced economies, up to 95 million workers could lack the skills needed for employment by 2020. As a result, a firm’s ability to attract and retain the best talent has become a critical source of competitive advantage, but also requires new sets of tools.
